It was evident during our strategy sessions that CEO, Julia, had a genuine excitement about her work and the brides she served but she couldn’t put a finger on why she loved it so much. During deeper discovery sessions we found that her faith in God gave her a profound respect and appreciation for marriage and her continued presence at marriage ceremonies gave her renewed hope for humanity. Coupling Julia’s faith with her passion for helping brides, we defined an actionable purpose for her brand: To strengthen the sanctity of marriage in peoples’ eyes, inspire a generation to respect marriage, and help Brides to enjoy their magical moment.
J.W. Makeup Artistry is a prime example of purpose informing position. In other words, her purpose to strengthen the sanctity of marriage ends up positioning her in the market as a brand with high standards amongst amateurs and budget providers. We chose a luxurious feminine color palette with designer fonts to create the upscale image and a big sister brand voice to soften the edges and make the brand more approachable. Within 1 week of launching the new website, her company had booked contracts with both brides and elite wedding venues. J.W. has since become one of the top preferred vendors for the biggest venues in Indianapolis.
